Ford of Europe’s small cars – Ka and Fiesta – enter the 2001 model year with new eco-friendly powertrain options and a wider customer choice of features, series, colours and trims.
A new Fiesta E-Diesel, the most fuel-efficient Fiesta ever, joins the lineup with an ECE ‘combined’ fuel consumption figure of just 4.5 litres/100 km and a reduction in emissions of the so-called ‘greenhouse gas’ carbon dioxide (CO2) from 144 to 120 g/km (compared with the standard Ford Fiesta 1.8-litre Endura DI diesel engine).
Additionally, Fiesta models with the 1.25- and 1.6-litre Zetec powertrains now will be homologated to the European Stage-IV emissions standard in all markets. Fiesta and Ka models with the 1.3-litre Endura petrol powertrain will be offered with European Stage-IV emissions in select markets.
“For the new model year we concentrated our efforts on improving those areas of our small cars which would be most beneficial to our customers,” said Earl Hesterberg, vice president, Marketing and Sales, Ford of Europe. “The addition of the Fiesta E-Diesel and new Stage-IV powertrains provides our environmentally conscious customers with increased choice while our new interior environment colours and additional trim series further expand the personalisation factor for buyers.”
