The first Chinese passenger vehicle was launched in South Korea this week, the Kenbo 600 SUV imported and distributed by China-Korea Motor Company.

The Kenbo 600 is produced in China's south-western city of Chongqing by Beiqi Yinxiang Automobile, a joint venture with Beijing-based BAIC Motor Corporation. In China, the model was first launched in October 2015 and sold as the Huansu S6.

China-Korea Motor began taking orders for the Kenbo 600 earlier this month, with deliveries scheduled to begin in February. The company began selling Chinese-made commercial vehicles early last year, including a mini-truck and a commercial van.

The company said it has 80 shops nationwide that provide aftersales services.

The Kenbo 600 will be available initially in two versions, the basic trim spec priced at KRW20m (US$16,650) and a luxury spec priced at KRW21m.

In China, the model is available with a choice of 1.5- or two-litre engines.
