New car registrations in Romania fell 26.8% year on year in February 2020 to 8,836 units, according to data from the Association of Automobile Builders of Romania (ACAROM) cited by local media.

So far in 2020 new car registrations have fallen 18.1% to 21,325 units, romania-insider.com reported.

Volume of imported used cars rose 1.27% to 34,755 in February 2020 but fell 1.24% to 72,031 year to date.

Dacia was, as usual, top new car brand in the first two months of the year but volume was off 38% to 5,724 units.

Volkswagen boosted sales 27.7% to 2,056 units.

Dacia parent company Renault was third with 1,848 units sold, down 12.3%, followed by Skoda (1,822 units, +3.7% ) and Hyundai (1,548 units, +27.3%).

West European car registrations fell by 7% in February, according to LMC Automotive which also revised this year's market outlook down amid rising concerns over the economic impact of the deepening coronavirus crisis in Europe.
