Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has started building the redesigned 2017 Chrysler Pacifica at its Windsor (Ontario) Assembly Plant, claiming 37 minivan segment 'firsts' designed to offer comfort, convenience and functionality.
"As the original creator of the minivan more than 30 years ago, FCA US has transformed the segment with firsts – notching 78 innovations through the first five minivan generations. With the introduction of the all-new Chrysler Pacifica, FCA US adds 37 minivan firsts to its portfolio for an unprecedented total of 115 innovations in the segment," the automaker claimed.
"Constructed on an all-new platform, the Pacifica will deliver ride and handling capabilities that not only exceed its primary competitors, but are on par with high-end premium sedans."
The model reaches showrooms in spring.
The Windsor plant, built in 1928, runs three shifts and, in 2013, celebrated 30 years of minivan production. Over 14m minivans have been sold since the plant began production in 1983, with more than 6m currently on the road today.
