Faurecia has opened a new automotive seating plant in Simpsonville, Kentucky, supplying two Ford truck plants.

The factory started production in May and plans to employ more than 500 people.

It produces complete seat systems for the Super Duty truck, which is offered in 250, 350, 450, 550 and chassis cab F650/750 models, and supplies two vehicle plants.

With operations at 76 sites in 25 countries, Faurecia Automotive Seating claims to be the world leader in the manufacture of high-performance seating mechanisms, frames and advanced mechatronics. The company ranks in the top three for production of complete seats and claims to be renowned for seating innovations that provide smart comfort solutions. North America is the second-largest region for Faurecia Automotive Seating, following Europe.

The 122,000 square-foot Simpsonville plant is the 36th Faurecia production site in North America. In all, the supplier employs more than 20,000 people in the US, Mexico and Canada.
