UK-based tech startup Helixx has unveiled its first demonstrator vehicle.
The firm is known for its ‘factory in a box’ concept, which – it claims – will enable customers to operate a licensed factory capable of producing a range of mini commercial EVs.
Helixx’s demonstrator vehicle previews its commercial delivery van, which it says has been designed for ease of assembly and ‘optimum’ interior loads space.
According to Helixx, the project will start production next year, along with a pick-up truck for the construction industry.
In an interview with Just Auto earlier this year in July, Steve Pegg, Helixx CEO and co-founder said that the firm was in the ‘final stages’ getting the demonstrator vehicle ready, which had originally been slated for unveiling in April/May 2023.
“We’ve had an overwhelming level of interest – our key targets for these licenses were in Asia-Pacific, but we’ve had interest from every single continent on the licensing side,” he told Just Auto.

By GlobalDataOn the demonstrator vehicle, Mr Pegg said: “We developed this demonstration vehicle to prove and stress-test the global replicability of our digital-first approach. Our demonstration vehicle will now enable us to amplify our customer engagement and gain valuable feedback from the market.”
The vehicle showcases what Helixx licence holders can offer fleet operators from $0.25 per hour.
Based on a hybrid aluminium chassis, the Helixx commercial delivery van provides a 2100-litre capacity and a 500kg maximum payload.
Its proprietary manufacturing technology stack includes software enabled by Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
Following validation and in-market feedback on the Demonstrator Vehicle, Helixx says it is well placed within a roadmap to commence a Gen Zero production run of 100 vehicles at its pilot hub in the UK, before customer vehicle and factory rollout commences at a concept hub in Southeast Asia.
