EXCLUSIVE: VENEZUELA: GM begins Astra sales, plans local build
General Motors is to launch the Opel-designed Astra range in Venezuela, writes Rogerio Louro Alves. The automaker is initially importing cars from Opel plants in Europe but will make them locally from 2002. Re-badged as a Chevrolet for Venezuela, the Astra will be produced in Valencia with 1.8- and 2.2-litre engines.
