Daewoo Motor Co car production in Poland decreased 69.6% to
19,061 in January-to-June 2001 from 62,688 in January-to-June 2000, according
to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com.
Output from the Warsaw-based firm declined at least 60.0% for
each model, except the Tacuma minivan (which was only launched launched last
December).
The performance appears to be worsening: production in June
alone sank 82.8%.
The contraction reflects the depressed market in Poland –
plus the shaken consumer confidence in Daewoo amid the highly publicised uncertainty
of the Korean brand’s future.

The operation in Poland, named Daewoo-FSO Motor SA, also makes
light-commercial vehicles in Nysa, about 315 kilometres (210 miles) southwest
of Warsaw, but no data was available.
