Volkswagen do Brasil today (4 July) began a compulsory vacation for all 15,000 workers at the Anchieta plant, in São Bernardo do Campo city, São Paulo state, writes Rogério Louro.
The employees will not return to the assembly line until 10 July.
VW is using the compulsory vacation to adjust output to low demand in the Brazilian car market in the last few months.
The production pause also includes the assembly line for the redesigned Polo launched only in May.
Fiat, General Motors, Renault and Scania are also giving compulsory vacation to their workers to reduce production.
