Volkswagen do Brasil is hiring 395 temporary workers for its Brazilian Taubaté plant to meet growing demand for the Gol hatchback and Parati compact station wagon models from Argentina.
The automaker is increasing output from 820 to 930 units daily to meet the demand.
The Argentine unit has asked for an extra 10,000 cars from Brazil this year, a 20% increase over the volume initially forecast.
The uniquely Brazilian-designed and made Gol compact is the best-selling car in Argentina with 21,100 units sold so far this year. The Parati wagon derivative is the sixth best seller.
Taubaté has 5,000 workers and the 395 new employees will be on temporary contracts from September to December inclusive.
