A source within the Volkswagen Group has confirmed to just-auto that Audi and Porsche will launch new models at next month’s Shanghai motor show.

The new A3 sedan will be the highlight of the Audi stand at AutoShanghai, the car having been seen in concept form at the Geneva motor show in March 2011. The new model is expected to be built in China at FAW Volkswagen’s new Foshan plant in Guangdong province from later in 2013.

Audi of America will also sell a four-door version of the A3 but in Europe, the car is expected to be available in only a handful of markets.

Another Volkswagen Group subsidiary will also be showcasing new cars at AutoShanghai. Porsche will reveal a mid-life update for the Panamera range, plus the rumoured PHEV version of the car, which is expected to be badged Panamera S e-hybrid.
