Evtec Automotive has appointed Steve Norris as chairman.
Norris, a former UK Minister for Transport, has been a board member of many public and privately held companies and has a 50-year association with the UK automotive industry.
Evtec Automotive is a key part of the Auto Innovation Group, formed to create long-term investments in the UK automotive industry. A large part of its portfolio focuses on technologies for electrified vehicles and businesses with environmental, social and governance credentials.
“I am delighted Steve is joining Evtec Automotive as Chairman,” said Auto Innovation Group chairman, David Roberts.
“His experience will be invaluable to us as we grow the business, bolstering the strategically important UK supply base for electrified vehicles that is vital to the future competitiveness of our industry.
“It’s equally important he shares our values and ethical ethos. Our mission is to source, make, deliver and sustainably dispose of zero emissions technologies. While at the same time using our resources to drive social change and helping to employ more disadvantaged people.”

By GlobalDataFor his part, Norris added: “I have had a long association with the automotive and transport industry, but this is the most exciting, pivotal moment for the sector in my career. We face huge challenges, adapting to an electrified, zero-emissions future. Which is why I am so pleased to be joining Evtec Automotive, a new business but one incredibly well placed to meet those challenges, supporting and supplying the UK car industry as it transitions to electric technologies.
“Cost and quality is paramount in this industry and Evtec can deliver on both, but it will deliver with social purpose at its core and that is something I am equally proud to be associated with.”
Evtec Automotive, based in Coventry, counts Jaguar Land Rover and other car manufacturers in its customer base.
The company says sales are now back to pre-Covid crisis levels and it plans to expand to serve increasing demand for electrified vehicles.
