The latest European Commission survey of car prices has found that prices are not converging towards levels in high price countries and that they have increased less than inflation, according to Reuters.
In some new member states, including Poland, Hungary and Lithuania, prices have fallen. The lowest pre-tax prices are in Finland.
The difference between high and low prices, measured by average standard deviation, has stayed at 6.4% in the European Union as a whole. Within the euro currency zone the price difference is 4.4%.
The biggest price difference was for the Volkswagen Golf, which cost nearly 27% less in Finland than in Germany.
