ElringKlinger has unveiled a new facility in Bursa, Turkey, with the plant focusing primarily on production of thermal shielding systems and speciality gaskets.
The Dettingen-based supplier has been operating a factory in the western Turkish city of Bursa since 2009.
As production capacity had become insufficient to meet sustained buoyancy in demand, the company drew up detailed plans for a new plant in October, 2014. Construction work started in August last year.
“Turkey is acknowledged as an important manufacturing location for large parts of the automobile industry,” said ElringKlinger CEO, Stefan Wolf. “Our new plant will help to meet high levels of demand.”
Spanning around 10,500 square metres, the new plant was built during a 12-month period and encompasses production and logistics areas, as well as a three-storey office complex and tool engineering facility.
Order backlog for the current financial year stands at 9m units, with an emphasis on thermal shielding systems and speciality gaskets. By 2019, ElringKlinger expects to see production output of 1m additional parts, which may also trigger staff expansion.
