Volvo has confirmed it will build its smallest car yet, to be launched in late 2006.
The two-door coupe, named the C30, will be a full 8 inches shorter than its current small car, the S40, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.
Volvo president and chief executive Hans-Olov Olsson reportedly said the C30 will help it achieve its worldwide sales goal of 600,000 vehicles. Last year it sold 460,000. He declined to discuss production but a spokesman told the WSJ it will be one of Volvo’s highest volume models.
The C30, which is being designed in Sweden, will be built in Belgium, the report added.
