Chrysler’s Dodge brand has continued its series of teaser photos of the upcoming Alfa Romeo-based Dart compact with “a sneak peek into the high-tech, precisely crafted and highly customisable interior” of the new car set for a Detroit show launch on 9 January.

We’re promised “a modern blend of precision craftsmanship, technology, exciting bursts of colour and hand-sculpted shapes… made with materials and technology typically found in more expensive vehicle segments”.

Dodge also claims the Dodge will have interior spaciousness of a mid-sized sedan and best-in-class hip and shoulder room.

There will be 12 exterior colours, 14 interior color and trim combinations, six wheel options, three engine options and three transmissions.

A claimed class-exclusive floating island bezel houses the segment-exclusive optional seven-inch TFT customisable gauge cluster display with light pipe surround that also houses the optional class-exclusive UConnect Touch 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia centre – the claimed largest touch-screen in its class.

The glovebox conceals a stowed iPad; the centre console features auxiliary jacks to plug in a wide variety of electronic devices, and there are console map pockets.

Optional ‘racetrack’ lighting surrounds the floating island bezel. Ambient lighting for the door handles, map pockets, foot wells, glove box, storage bin and illuminated cup holders is available.

The car will have 10 standard airbags, claimed to be unsurpassed in the segment, and will also be the only one in its class to offer blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection.
