Magna has secured its first award for a Dedicated Hybrid Drive (DHD) Duo system with a “leading” Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
The DHD Duo system delivers a longitudinal front drive solution with an advanced dual e-motor and multi-speed design.

The DHD Duo system addresses the integration challenge of longitudinal hybrid systems in passenger and commercial vehicles by leveraging compact dog clutch technology.
This allows the system to be applied across multiple vehicle models without structural modifications, providing unmatched flexibility to OEMs, the company claims.
Part of Magna’s DHD Duo family, the longitudinal DHD Duo front drive features a scalable design supporting B to E vehicle segments, including SUVs, pickups, and light buses.
It provides a flexible architecture for switching between P1+P3, P2+P3, and range extender configurations, accommodating electric, serial, and parallel driving modes.
Production is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025 at Magna’s Nanchang facility.
In March 2024, Magna, in partnership with General Motors and Wipro Limited, announced plans to develop SDVerse, a B2B sales platform designed to facilitate the buying and selling of automotive software.
The platform aims to streamline the sourcing and procurement process by providing a matchmaking service for buyers and sellers of embedded automotive software.
