Daimler has selected Solace to provide the technology powering its Mercedes Me app and associated services by streaming information between vehicles and back-end applications.
The automaker opted to use Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) for communications to and from vehicles and needed a technology which could handle the routing required at massive scale.
Daimler chose Solace’s message broker to power MQTT and other communications because it is the only technology capable of not just collecting information from tens of millions of vehicles but sending vehicle-specific alerts and instructions to specific cars or groups of vehicles.
“We are excited Daimler has selected Solace to help them extend their competitive advantage in the connected car space to seize the opportunity it represents,” said Solace CEO, Les Rechan.
“The ability to partner with one of the world’s best companies…is truly a watershed moment in the growth of our company.”
Daimler is rolling out connected car services using Solace’s technology in the middle of this year.
