Skoda Auto on Monday posted an 18.5% jump in first-quarter vehicle sales, according to Reuters.

It said in a statement it sold a record 129,778 cars in the period, mainly thanks to higher demand in western Europe and overseas.

“March became Skoda Auto’s best month ever in terms of sales. This means that Skoda continues in last year’s positive trends and is heading for another record-breaking annual result,” the car maker said in a statement cited by the news agency.

Skoda sold 64,715 new and old Octavia models, up 31.7% year-on-year.

Sales to western Europe, Skoda’s main export market, increased 17.9%. Sales in central and eastern Europe – where Skoda dominates – were up 10.8%.
