CTK (Ceska Tiskova Kancelar) Business News reports that Skoda Auto plans to produce up to several thousand new Octavia cars more than this year’s plan of 40,000 units due to higher than expected market demand.
A new version of the car premiered in March at the Geneva motor show, will be launched at the end of May in the Czech Republic with rollout to other European markets to follow.
This year Skoda plans to sell at least 6,500 new Octavias in the Czech Republic.
Skoda makes Octavias at its plant in Vrchlabi, East Bohemia, but production and assembly will this year be gradually moved to the parent plant in Mlada Boleslav.
This year Skoda plans to sell a total of 451,000 cars, 1,300 more than last year.
