It is the first project of this scale that Seat & Cupra has managed for the Brand Group Core.

The Martorell facility has undergone transformation to accommodate electric, hybrid and combustion-engine vehicles simultaneously.

Under the Volkswagen Group’s cross-brand governance framework, Seat & Cupra will also continue development of the MEB21 platform from the Iberian Peninsula.

The Volkswagen ID. Polo is the fully electric variant of the Polo nameplate, which has accumulated global sales of more than 20 million units.

The model offers a WLTP range of up to 454km and includes connected travel assist with automatic traffic light recognition, one-pedal driving and a vehicle-to-load function.

Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume said: “Compelling entry-level cars, affordable for many, offering space and top technology customers know from higher segments: with the Electric Urban Car Family, Volkswagen Group is stepping up the pace of electrification in Europe. We are investing several billions to make Spain a central hub of electromobility.”

The Cupra Raval, built on the MEB+ platform, is due to launch in summer 2026 in three editions with an estimated range of around 450 km.

The model features 3D-knitted CUP Bucket seats and dynamic light projections in the door panels.

Cupra said it has sold more than one million vehicles since its founding and recorded its strongest-ever first quarter in 2026, with March becoming the highest-selling month in the brand’s history.

The company is targeting a 3% share of the European market.

According to figures from GlobalData, the parent company of Just Auto, Cupra held a 1.1% market share in Western Europe and 0.18% in Eastern Europe in 2025.
