Supplier Continental plans to start construction of a production plant for innovative driver information systems in Novi Sad by the end of the year, managing director of Continental Serbia, Sasa Coringa, told local media.

"We will not give details now, as they are not defined, but by the end of this year we will start building a big factory in Novi Sad," Coringa said in a video file posted on the website of the Tanjug news agency, according to SeeNews.com

Coringa reportedly said Continental planned to hire 'many' engineers at the future plant which will produce complex driver information systems that will include video displays and cameras.

The company also intends to expand by 1,500 square metres its research and development (R&D) centre for vehicle interior and safety control systems in Novi Sad which currently has a footprint of 6,500 square metres.

"If we look only at the last three months, we have employed 100 people in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak. It was not easy to interview them via Skype and integrate them into the company, but we succeeded and they are part of our team," Coringa added.

Continental opened its R&D centre in Novi Sad in March 2018 and has hired about 500 engineers so far.
