Continental's Romanian unit said it has invested EUR150m (US$178m) in 2020 and planned to invest a similar amount this year.
Among the most important investments last year were a new office building for the research and development centre in Timisoara and the completion of the expansion of the office building in Iasi, Continental Romania said in a statement cited by romania-insider.com.

By GlobalDataIn 2020, Continental also installed a new trigeneration system at the electronic components factory in Timisoara and upgraded equipment at its tyre factory in Timisoara, engineering centre and electronic components factory in Sibiu, as well as at its ContiTech factories in Carei, Nadab and Timisoara.
At the end of 2020, Continental employed over 20,100 in its engineering centres and production facilities in Romania working in international teams on connectivity, autonomous driving and electromobility, by using methods such as artificial intelligence and big data, the company added.
All five Continental divisions are represented in Romania. Continental has seven production units and four engineering centres in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov and Iasi. Continental is a partner in two joint ventures in Iasi and Slatina and has a tyre distribution centre in Bucharest.
