Cesvi has opened the first specialist vehicle scrapping centre in Colombia, on the outskirts of Bogotá, where there is an installed capacity of 88 units per month to recycle as much as possible.

Cesvi is a vehicle testing center and road safety institution founded by the main insurance companies in Colombia to research accident damage repair costs.

This year Cesvi expanded into the environment sector. Colombia has an estimated vehicle parc of about 4.5m vehicles, 5% of which are ‘scrapped’ every year due to obsolescence but usually end up abandoned in fields or parking lots with weeds growing through them.

Cesvi‘s main shareholder is Mapfre , a Spanish insurance company.
