Zhengzhou Nissan is expected to achieve a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year over the coming three years, according to a statement made by the general manager of Dongfeng Motor.
The joint venture will continue plans for domestic production of Japanese brand Nissan vehicles, despite falling sales in 2012, reported Shanghai Securities Journal, citing a statement made by Yang Qing.
The Diaoyu Island incident in July 2012 reduced Zhengzhou Nissan’s sales by 20,000 units, said Yang. Although Zhengzhou Nissan’s sales may continue to be affected in 2013, Dongfeng plans to increase the JV’s annual production capacity to 200,000 units.
