Volkswagen’s Chinese operation reportedly is planning a new ‘BaseZERO’ restructuring programme which will take two years to implement.
VW saw sales fell 6% in China in the first half of 2004, despite overall sales growth of 28% in the mainland vehicle market over the same period.
Prices for VW cars in China have fallen 9% to date, after declining 11% in 2003, Access Asia reported.
