Vehicle sales in mainland China rose by 14% year-on-year to 1.13 million units in June, according to data released by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center.
This represents a slowdown in the growth rate compared with earlier in the year, as year-on-year comparisons get tougher.
Last year, the market began to recover in the second quarter – led by a government stimulus package – after a sharp decline in the first.
Sales of light passenger vehicles in China, including passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs, rose by 10.9% year-on-year to 839,228 units in June, after growing by 34% in April and 25% in May.
In the first-half, vehicle sales were up by 30.5% to 7.19 million units, while passenger vehicle sales rose by 25.6% to 5.42 million units, according to the center.
