The Chinese new car market might be cooling but Ford’s Chinese sales have grown almost 10% on the back of strong demand for its Transit LCV.

So far this year, to the end of October, Ford has sold 426,814 units in China compared to 392,152 vehicles last year. It sold 40,857 last month, around the same number as a year ago.

The Mondeo continued its strong momentum with 6,484 sold in October, up 39% from the same period last year. Focus sales crossed the 150,000 mark for the year, with 156,217 sales between January and October, a 13%.

Jiangling Motors (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle investment in China, has sold 163,358 Transit vehicles so far this year, up 11%, and during October sold 14,006 vehicles.

From January to October, Transit sales climbed to a record high of 48,292 vehicles, an increase of 13% and, in October, volume grew 8% to 4,519.
