Toyota has said it will double capacity at its new Guangzhou plant in China to meet strong demand for the Camry, according to Reuters.

A second shift will be introduced from October or November, increasing capacity to 200,000 units a year. The workforce will be increased from 2,100 to 3,500 units.
Toyota started building the Camry at Guanghzou last month.
The new US$475m plant is a joint venture with Guanghzou Automobile and is located in the outskirts of Guangzhou in a district called Nansha.
The Chinese-built Camry features the AZ engine made by Toyota’s local joint venture, Guangqi Toyota Engine Co., Ltd. (GTE) and has been slightly restyled to appeal to Chinese buyers.
Toyota is aiming to sell 300,000 cars in China this year and a million cars by 2010.
