Czech carmaker Skoda is streamlining its car distribution operations in China by discontinuing its imported car distribution business operated by its parent company Volkswagen.

Skoda will have just one local distributor, Shanghai-Volkswagen – a joint venture between Volkswagen and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), which also controls Skoda’s local assembly plant in the city of Ningbo, just outside Shanghai.

China is one of Skoda’s largest single markets worldwide, with sales rising by over 28% to 94,700 units in the first four months of 2015.
