Huachen/Brilliance BMW is planning a second plant that will start operations in Dadong District of Liaoning Province’s Shenyang City at the end of 2009, according to a Chinese media report.

China Industry Daily News cited remarks made by Qi Yumin, Huachen Automobile Group’s (also known as Brilliance) Chairman and CEO.

The report said the plan is for BMW not only to produce the BMW 3 and BMW 5 Series in China, but also produce the BMW 1 Series.

The designed annual production capacity of the second plant will be 100,000 units and the construction is scheduled to start in the second half of 2008, according to the report.

In 2007 some 32,800 BMWs were made in Shenyang and BMW expects to make 45,000 cars there this year.
