Vehicles sales in China rose 23.3% in the first seven months of this year, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Sales reached 5.11m units.
Production was up 23.7% to 5.01m units in the same period.
Passenger cars, including cars, SUVs and MPVs, accounted for 3.63m vehicles sold in the first seven months, while truck and bus sales totaled 1.49m units.
The three biggest sellers were Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), First Automobile Works (FAW) and Dongfeng Motor.
CAAM is forecasting that vehicle sales and production will exceed 8.5m units for the full year.
