Data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturer shows that passenger car sales grew in October, reversing the declining of trend of recent months.

A total of 538,500 cars were sold in October, up 8.37% from a year earlier, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.

However analysts cautioned that the increase is modest and the outlook for car sales in China remains highly uncertain amid an economic downturn.

Car sales in China totalled 5.64m from January to October, up 11.07% from a year earlier, the association said.

The top ten brands of cars in term of sales in October were BYD F3, Jetta, Corolla, Camry, Excelle, Accord, Xiali, Santana, Brilliance Junjie and Elantra.
