Michelin, the world’s biggest car tyre manufacturer, plans to turn its Chinese operations into its biggest manufacturing base globally, according to Access Asia.

The French company has been producing tyres in China since 1996 and has a car tyre joint venture in Shanghai. The company claims to have doubled its sales volume in China and believes that China’s tyre market will exceed Japan’s within the next 10 years.
