Automotive components maker Metaldyne has opened an office in Shanghai, China, as a prelude to establishing a manufacturing presence in the country. The office will support the development of the company’s sales, technical and manufacturing capability in the country, as well as a purchasing activity to support Metaldyne’s global material requirements.

“The new office is a logical step for Metaldyne, as the Asia-Pacific region is becoming an increasingly important growth area for our company,” said Tim Leuliette, chairman, president and CEO. “Because of the strong economic growth projections for the region and the attractive economic environment, China will play a larger role as a customer for our products and as a supplier of our materials.”

Fuping Liu, chief representative, Metaldyne China, will head the activity.
