Mazda has started Chinese production of the redesigned 3 Axela at Changan Mazda Automobile in Nanjing and the 6 Atenza at FAW Car in Changchun. Both models produced by its local joint ventures will go on sale in May.

Mazda recently started building the 3 in both Mexico and Thailand.

Mazda Chinese operations chief Nobuhiko Watabe said: “The reinforcement of our business in emerging markets and establishment of a global production footprint is one of the pillars of [our] Structural Reform Plan. The start of [local 3 and 6] production represents a giant step forward in our initiatives in this area.”
