Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has launched its locally made Range Rover Evoque in China.
Prices range from CNY448,000 (US$71,600) to CNY582,800.
First models have a JLR-built 237hp, two litre, turbocharged I4 engine with nine speed, automatic transmission, CarNewsChina.com reported.
The company plans to introduce a 196hp Chery-built two litre turbo with ZF six speed automatic in the second half of 2015. This SQR484J engine will bring the starting price down to CNY400,000.
The Chery-JLR JV builds the five door model at its new Changshu factory in Jiangsu Province. The imported three door remains on sale.
