The chairman of Jianghuai Automobile said the company will continue to increase the quality of its vehicles as it seeks to sell more models overseas.
An Jin told China Daily Chinese vehicle manufacturers can no longer compete on low prices and labour costs and that his company will raise prices while keeping them affordable.
Jianghuai already exports 450,000 vehicles to over 100 countries, he said, adding JAC aims to achieve a sales target of 1.6m units with revenue of CNY100bn (US$16bn) by the end of 2015 – with exports accounting for 25%.
JAC shipped 500 light trucks to Brazil last October, China’s single largest vehicle contract with the South American nation. The company is also the second-largest commercial vehicle brand in Egypt with over 3,000 vehicles on the roads.
In addition to improving quality, An said the company had been setting up more service outlets overseas.
He added: “We will not rush to export to any country without a maintenance network.”
