Beijing-Hyundai has announced that the company will be launching its new own brand car in November at the Guangzhou International Motor Show.

The new car will be an electric-powered based on Elantra.

Xu Heyi, board chairman of Beijing Hyundai, told local madia that “the joint venture is committed to bringing its first own-made electric car to market.”

JV General Manager Lu Zaiwan said, “in addition to new energy and pure electric vehicles, the brand will also continue to research and develop traditional gas-powered vehicles. Further information will be given at the Auto Guangzhou show in November.”

The Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle and Beiqi New Energy Vehicle are the two companies with which the new own brand will be cooperating.

Xu added, “due to the electric vehicle market still being in its infancy, production for the car will be done at a relatively small-scale at first.”
