Honda says it has lowered its sales target by 13% from earlier car sales target of 731,500 and is predicting sales of 3.3m cars globally for the financial year to March 2012; down 6% year-on-year.
The automaker expects to sell 638,000 cars in China during 2011.
Recently, the company also announced a forecast of a worse-than-expected 65% fall in annual operating profit.
Sales targets have been revised by the company as a result of Japan’s earthquake on Honda’s supply chain and forced reduction in production.
Honda is estimating production in China will be normalised by the end of July. Output will be bolstered in August-December 2011, although it will not be able to compensate for lost production.
