US infotainment supplier Harman is stepping up its expansion into mainland China with the establishment of a “global R&D centre” in the city of Suzhou as well a “joint laboratory” for automotive innovations with Tsinghua University.
Speaking at the Beijing show, CEO Dinesh Paliwal also announced supply agreements for infotainment systems with local automakers Geely and Chang’an Automobile.
He added that the company has been growing by 80% annually in China since it entered the market in 2010, providing high end systems for premium automobiles.
