Private Chinese car maker Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd plans to double car exports in 2005 to 10,000 units, mainly to countries in Africa and the Middle East, the chairman of its parent company told Reuters on Monday.
“This year we’ll sell more than 10,000 cars,” overseas, chairman Li Shufu told Reuters in an interview in Beijing.
That would represent less than a 10th of planned sales of 140,000 cars in 2005, the news agency noted.
Geely, based in the wealthy eastern province of Zhejiang, exported 4,846 sedans in 2004, with Syria the most important single market, executives told Reuters.
