Geely has taken another step in improving its supply chain by agreeing to a joint venture partnership with Japanese wiring harness company Yazaki Sogyo Kabushiki Kaisha.

Talks for the partnership gained prominence in July after Yazaki Shinji, proprietor of Yazaki, conducted talks with the Chinese carmaker at the latter’s headquarters.

The JV will begin supplying necessary wiring harnesses, which not only reduce the risk of electrical issues in cars but also improve space, to Geely and its subsidiaries from July 2012.

The joint venture company is aiming to generate CNY 10 billion (US$1.55 billion) by 2016.
