Ford Motor Company’s brands in China (Ford, Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover) reported total retail sales of 149,455 units in the first three quarters of 2007, 30% growth year on year, outpacing the industry average.
The passenger car joint venture, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, posted a significant 59% year-on-year wholesale sales growth to reach 150,365 units. In particular, the third quarter saw wholesale volume of 56,778 units, a 62% rise over the same period in 2006.
The third generation Mondeo will be launched in China very soon, setting, Ford claimed, a new benchmark for the domestic high-end CD car segment.
Ford brand vehicles, both domestically produced and imported, passenger cars and commercial vehicles altogether, achieved total sales of 135,073 units, a 27% increase year-on-year.
“Our strategic deployment in China is now taking effect. CFMA Nanjing plant was just inaugurated in late September, which adds 160,000 units to our previous 250,000-unit capacity. This will better satisfy customer needs for our excellent products.” said Ford Motor (China) chairman and CEO Mei-Wei Cheng.

Sales by premium brands Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover grew 72% year-on-year to 14,063 units.
