Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV) has launched R30, the fourth production model from its local Venucia (Qi Chen) brand.

The R30 was revealed at April 2014’s Beijing motor show and is based on the Nissan March/Micra. It has also been reported that the R30 will gradually replace the March in China as that car has been a slow seller. The R30 is powered by the Nissan HR12DE 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine.

Venucia R30 “strives for both affordability and quality”, the company says, with its starting price set strategically set at CNY39,900 (US$6,432) and equipped with “best-in-class features” such as:

  • Generous cockpit: attributable to R30’s one-class-above exterior (3,775mm x 1,665mm x 1,530mm) and wheelbase (2,450mm).
  • 1.2 litre HR12DE engine: “more powerful but similar fuel consumption to most of its peers, which have 1 litre engines”.
  • Agility: “with a minimum turning radius of 4.5m, stable suspension and chassis, R30 delivers safe and agile driving performance”.

DFL-PV managing director Susumu Uchikoshi said: “As the Chinese auto market continues to grow rapidly, consumer behaviours become more rational, while needs are more diversified. As a brand dedicated to Chinese consumers, Venucia goes beyond product creation and maintains an ongoing dialogue with consumers, striving to realise our commitment to customers and responding to their needs with innovative products and services.”
