China became a net vehicle vehicle exporter for the first time in 2005, according to Reuters, citing the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

In total the country exported 172,800 cars in 2005, up 120% on a year earlier. Imports reached 161,900 units.
The exports are mainly low-cost models for developing markets, produced by makers such as Chery, Geely and Great Wall.
