Chinese car maker Chery has produced its 800,000th car.
According to Xinhua news agency Chery is the first company to meet the milestone.
The 800,000th car was a QQ6 model, launched last September, and known as the ‘Chinese Beetle’.
Chery was established in 1997 in Anhui Province. It produced 305,200 cars last year, up from 189,000 a year earlier and 50,000 in 2002.
The company has signed an agreement with Chrysler to produce cars for the brand and sell them in North America and Europe. As Chrysler is up for sale there can be no guarantees the deal will go ahead. Last year Chery exported 50,000 cars and is hoping to double the figure this year.
