Chinese automaker ChangAn plans to build a car assembly facility in Azerbaijan, Yashar Aliyev, the Azeri ambassador to China, told a news conference on Monday (27 March), ITAR-TASS reported.

The Azeri-Chinese joint venture will be built on the site of a plant that currently produces UAZ vehicles designed by Russia’s Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant and Oka compact cars.
The facility is expected to produce small and medium-sized ChangAn cars and assembly kits.
ChangAn auto company is the fourth largest carmaker in China, and controls 37% of China’s economy car market, ITAR-TASS noted.
