BYD is reportedly looking for manufacturing partners in Taiwan with a view to making electric buses for the local market.

The Taiwan Economic News said that BYD is joining a number of other mainland Chinese vehicle makers, which are investing in Taiwan’s embryonic electric vehicle sector.

The report said that BYD is interested in the design capability of Taiwanese companies and is in discussion with a ‘couple of potential local partners’.

BYD has said that it plans to ship electric buses to Hong Kong in the second half and to North America and Europe next year.

Earlier this week BYD shares fell in value after the company posted a sharp drop in profit for the first-half.
