BorgWarner Thermal Systems has opened a new production facility at its campus in Ningbo, China, where it will produce fans, viscous fan drives, Visctronic fan drives and water pumps.
The new 194,000 sq ft (18,000 sq m) operation is the supplier’s largest in China, employing 260 people.
Geothermal technology heats and cools the building and provides economical hot water by tapping into the more stable temperatures a few feet below the earth’s surface. This reduces energy costs by 30% – 60% without emitting carbon dioxide.
BorgWarner Thermal Systems in China is a majority-owned joint venture known as BorgWarner Shenglong (Ningbo). The company serves over 100 customers in China including Chery Automobile, Nanjing MG Motor, Dong Feng Motors, China Sino Truck, China National Heavy-duty Truck Company, FAW Wuxi Diesel, Shanghai VW, FAW VW, ZhengZhou Nissan and Foton Motor as well as overseas customers such as Ford, Tata, Case New Holland and Chrysler.
In addition to BorgWarner Thermal Systems, the Ningbo Campus includes wholly foreign-owned operations and offices for BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems, Morse TEC and Transmission Systems.
